I’m an independent theatre director based in the East Midlands. I love playful, clear and imaginative storytelling and am particularly interested in exploring how theatre can be used to promote empathy between people from all walks of life.
I studied English Literature at Durham University on a Drama Scholarship and then went on to train on the MA Theatre Directing course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Since then, I’ve directed a number of productions and short plays at leading fringe venues, including the Hope Theatre, Greenwich Theatre, Theatre 503 and Assembly Festival Edinburgh. I’m also passionate about the role that theatre can play in rehabilitation, inclusion and wellbeing and enjoyed directing a group of military veterans in a production of Shakespeare’s Richard III with the Combat Veteran Players, in partnership with the RSC’s Open Stages programme.
I’m currently working as Associate Director on Private Peaceful at Nottingham Playhouse & UK Tour. As assistant director, I’ve worked extensively with Olivier award-winning director David Thacker at the Octagon Theatre Bolton.
